Flamini set for City switch
Frenchman to make Premier League return

Sky Sports News understands AC Milan's Mathieu Flamini is set to move to Manchester City in a loan deal until the end of the season.

Roberto Mancini is to raid Italy for a second time since taking over at Eastlands, with an approach for Flamini at the top of his agenda.

Flamini usually operates as a defensive central midfielder, a position City have plenty of cover for having brought in Patrick Vieira from Inter Milan earlier this month.

It is, though, at right-back that Flamini has played his best football at Milan having been switched there in the second half of last season due to a spate of injuries at the San Siro.

Flamini has fallen down the pecking order at Milan this term under Leonardo and moves to England in a bid for more regular football.

He should have little trouble adapting to the Premier League having enjoyed a four-year stint at Arsenal from 2004-2008.

Flamini made over 100 appearances under Arsene Wenger and in his final season at the Emirates, prior to his move to Milan, established himself as a key player.

However, Bareto was not be able to play for Lazio until he was 18 in 2010.




Lazio have returned to training in the last 24 hours, and while there were some notable players who have not yet arrived, others made some surprise appearances.

One of those is 17-year-old forward Gonzalo Barreto, who signed back in September for the Aquile.

Because of his young age, the former Danubio hitman has not been able to play for the Biancocelesti, due to a FIFA regulation on players under the age of 18, according to TMW.

The Uruguayan will become available to be selected by coach Davide Ballardini as of January 18, when he ironically turns 18.

In the meantime, the 'new [Mauro] Zarate' will ply his trade in the Roman Eagles' youth side, whilst training with the senior squad.
