JOHANNESBURG -- Diego Maradona has made peace with Michel Platini, but Pelé will have to wait for his apology.
Wrapping up a news conference after Argentina's 4-1 win over South Korea on Thursday, the Argentina coach sat back down and pulled a letter out of his pocket.
He says he received a letter from Platini "in which he clarified he'd never said what you journalists claimed he had."
He added, "I want to say sorry to Platini -- but not to Pelé."
Maradona criticized the pair in reaction to reports that the former players had been critical of his coaching style.
He lashed out at Pelé, regularly voted soccer's greatest ever player, for doubting Africa's ability to organize a World Cup. Maradona and Pelé have been at loggerheads for years.
Asked about Brazil, Maradona also said that Argentina's fierce South American rival was not tested by North Korea in the 2-1 win on Tuesday.
"Brazil played a relaxed game, too relaxed," Maradona said. "Korea never challenged them. For [goalkeeper] Julio Cesar, it would have been the same to shower or not after the game.
