Orlandoni: "A wonderful present, thanks Benitez"
BREMEN - Tonight was a Champions League debut for Paolo Orlandoni. He spoke to Sky Sport Italia about the contrasting feelings he had making his European debut at the age of 38 in game that won't be remembered fondly following a poor overall team performance. "I'm happy and I thank Benitez for this present. It was something I was yet to experience in my career, but they really wanted this game. Now we just have to focus on our next game - it's a massively important one."
"The Werder players were certainly more motivated than us," admitted the Nerazzurri keeper. "They wanted to do well in front of their fans in their last Champions League game. As for us, well, everyone can see what we've been through at Inter this year. It's incredible all the key players we've lost. And their absence has made a big difference within the group."
The players are looking forward with as much hunger as before: "The Club World Cup is a huge event for us. It's as important to us this year as reaching the Champions League final was last year." And speaking of the final in Madrid, José Mourinho was mentioned again and Orlandoni asked if Inter have finally come to terms with his absence. Orlandoni answered without mincing his words: "It's pointless to carry on talking about the same things. He left a good impression on everyone, he gave you journalists plenty of work and he brought a lot of good to Inter, but we still have the same hunger to win things as we did last year and before then."
