Liverpool have signed striker Andy Carroll (22) from Newcastle United for £ 35 m. (i.e. 41 million Euros). The amount spent by the Reds is the highest ever made by a Premier League club for an English player.
We hear from a source close to Torres that he is still in Liverpool waiting to be allowed to take a medical. I think that means Liverpool want to be sure of Carroll/Suarez first before letting him go. It will happen, but if not, he will be as popular on Merseyside as a Sir Alex Ferguson book signing....

I'm in the dark here as to how Chelski can splash 60 million and be within the rules for this summer's financial fair play?

Chris Murphy:
Its a very good point. The rules don't kick in until 2012 but this season and next are taken into account. There is a bizarre story on their website today saying they are "cash positive" but further down the article it states they made losses of £70 million.
Chris Murphy:
TORRES UPDATE: From the Liverpool website: Liverpool Football Club tonight confirmed they have agreed a fee with Chelsea for the sale of Fernando Torres. The player has now been given permission to speak to the London club
This is disgraceful. It's like the kid who knows they have a massive test coming up, 31 days to prepare for it, and waits till four hours before the ****ing exam.
