Harry Redknapp has just scoffed at Newcastle's insistence that they did all they could to keep Andy Carroll, and that the club were touting him to Tottenham. He suggested they demanded he put in a transfer request in order for the deal to go through. Too right Harry, I trust you on this one.

Shortest-lived transfer rumour of the day? Wigan chairman Dave Whelan has admitted he has turned down a bid from Newcastle - said to be around £10m - for winger Charles N'Zogbia and will resist any further bids for the Frenchman.

Newcastle up their bid for N'Zogbia to £12m but it is still rejected. They now have 10 minutes to complete the deal and they can't even agree a fee. And he's a player they shipped out quick smart two years ago. Ridiculous.
