Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has indicated the club are still keen to sign Mario Gotze despite Borussia Dortmund warning them against making a bid.

Gotze, 19, has been linked with a number of top clubs around Europe since helping Dortmund to the Bundesliga title last season, and he has already won nine caps for Germany.
Bayern have already made public their interest in the playmaker, but Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke told Sport Bild last month: "Mario does not have the idea to change to another team within Germany. You can completely forget about it. Bayern can save themselves an offer - we would be totally stupid to let him go there."

Rummenigge, though, believes Gotze may well be tempted by a move to Bayern.
"Those kinds of comments are quite remarkable," he told Sport Bild. "There are three parties involved in a transfer; it remains to be seen whether the player agrees with him.
"There's no doubt about it that Mario is a fantastic player. He fully deserves all the recent praise. He not only plays very spectacular football but is also quite efficient, and we all know that Bayern have a preference for players who represent Germany at international level..." |
