Newcastle have contacted Twente and have offered to match Fulham's £10.6m offer and are offering Ruiz better wages.

Ruiz's agent has told the Shields Gazette that the Twente player is yet to decide between a move to Newcastle or Fulham. Walter Mortelmans said: “Nothing is settled yet. We will make a decision later on tonight.”

The deal included sending Gael Kalkuta the other direction, but the young Frenchman's high wage demands ended negotiations.

It is now believed that Chelsea will send scounts to track Parolo's performances and consider another move in January.
