Great News – Coloccini Says He Could Make It On Saturday
With things being very quiet this week and nothing being officially said about Coloccini’s injury, we had thought he may even have an outside chance of playing at Carrow Road this Saturday.
Fab Coloccini – may play on Saturday
Coloccini had a similar problem a couple of week sagio when he had a back spasm before the Old Trafford game, but the Newcastle medics worked tirelessly to get him fit, and it worked and he played great, as usual.
The 34 times capped Argentine International limped out of last Saturday’s defeat to Chelsea in the first half, and the worst was feared.
James Perch will play on Saturday, and various other possible center-backs have been looked at this week, but Coloccini himself has said he hopes to play at Norwich City.
One thing in Colo’s favor is that he is a quick healer, which we have pointed out this week, and he hardly gets injured and doesn’t miss too many games in a season.
Fabricio was speaking at an awards ceremony in Gateshead last night and said this:
‘It is tight but I am hoping to play in the next game.’
That would be tremendous news for Newcastle fans, because Coloccini could then help James Perch during the game, and Newcastle will have a much better chance of taking something out of the game if Colo is fully fit and plays.
Of course what we don’t want to happen is have he Argentine play when he’s not 100% fit, and have him break down during the game and make the injury worse.
That wouldn’t work, and it would be better to have Fabricio miss the game on Saturday, if that means having him fully fit for the next game.
That’s a home game against Swansea a week on Saturday, when Newcastle will stage the full dedication for Gary Speed before the game, with his wife Louise also present.
We should hear more on Coloccini’s condition this afternoon, when Alan Pardew gives his weekly press conference, but this could be great news. |
