I guess using a team purely made of youngster is just too radical.
Most teams have experienced players combined with youngster.
Even Spain would play a 34 years old Xavi, and carrick/ parker are just 29/30.
They still have a future after 2 years if they can keep their form. (Carrick has a better chance as parker is somehow too combative).
Even a team have a little chance of winning the cup,
they should try their best to win it and field their best player (considering form and ability, certainly).
Just as should Italy in WC 2006 fielded his youngsters and give up pirlo/ del piero/ totti so to train their youngsters?? Not a chance! They were still in very gd form. Training a team should be done in the friendly/ qualification round, but not the finals.
Jones cannot play in midfield, and he should not be in the England team at all. He played very badly for United this season, apart from few breath-taking tackles. Walker > Richards? Cleverly played too little this season, and does not deserve a spot, subsitution at most.
Rooney is banned for few matches, so he needs a replacement.
Chamberlain? In 2004, when Rooney was selected, it was also considered too 'radical' at that time. Did he score tons of goal for everton that year? No, but it was sure he is very talented. I think Chamberlain also belongs to this case. |
