Atletico Madrid are the latest club to be linked with a move for Bayern Munich forward Mario Gomez.
Gomez, 27, has said he wants to leave Bayern after four years so he can play in “100% of games” rather than spending time on the bench.
The Germany international dropped down the pecking order in the Bavarian club’s record-breaking season, having missed the start because of ankle surgery.
He joined Bayern from Stuttgart in a €35 million transfer in 2009, and his agent Uli Ferber told kicker: “Mario does not run away from anything - but he wants to play regularly. He does not want to play in 50% of games, but in 100%”.
Gomez has been heavily linked with a transfer to Italy, with Napoli, Fiorentina and Juventus interested - and kicker says Atletico have now joined the race.
“The tendency is still [a move to] Italy,” Ferber said. “There have been no final talks with any club.”
Despite only playing in 32 Bayern games, not all of them as part of the starting line-up, Gomez has scored 19 goals this season. |
