Alessio Cerci and Fernando Torres set to swap clubs on an 18-month loan deal

According to Sky Italia and a host of other outlets in Italy, AC Milan are said to have agreed an 18-month loan deal for Atlético Madrid’s Alessio Cerci, with striker Fernando Torres heading in the opposite direction.

Sky Italia journalist Peppe di Stefano tweeted this evening to alert of the swap deal that is in the works, although it remains to be confirmed by either club at this stage. Notable Atlético figures have not shied away from the fact that they would welcome Fernando Torres back to the club, while interest from back home in Italy has been relentless for Alessio Cerci.

With Cerci yet to make a league start under Diego Simeone since arriving in September, the 26-year-old has recently voiced his intentions to get more minutes under his belt, wherever that may be. And with Fernando Torres retaining cult hero status at the Vicente Calderón, along with the fact he’s struggled to settle at AC Milan, it is a move that appears to make a lot of sense for both parties.
