Everton will weigh up potential risks before deciding whether to proceed with Andy van der Meyde's £1.8m transfer from Internazionale after it emerged that the Holland international is struggling with a groin problem.
Van der Meyde underwent a medical at Bellefield yesterday but the implications of that injury will be assessed again today before Everton decide whether to complete the deal. Club and player have agreed to a three-year contract with the transfer fee representing something of a coup given that the 26-year-old cost the Italian club nearer £5m from Ajax two years ago.
