Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho was surprisingly left in the wrong with his UEFA Champions League claims.
The Portuguese tactician mistakenly admitted that The Blues only need one more victory at Anderlecht on Wednesday to secure their passage to the knockout stages.
However, even a win in Belgium might not be enough for the West Londoners, should Real Betis defeat Liverpool at Anfield in Wednesday's other Group G contest.
Should that occur, Chelsea would need something from their final group match at home to The Reds.
"With one victory, we qualify," Mourinho foolishly insisted.
"We are still comfortable, but we must get three points to qualify and six to be champions of the group.
"We have two matches to qualify and we need one result. Our situation isn't bad, it depends on us.
"Everything is in our hands. Our situation is very good but if we lose to Anderlecht, it is a bit more complicated."
Mourinho has insisted that his side must avoid taking the match in Brussels for granted.
"The message I have for my players is to win," he added. "We conceded early goals against Everton, Real Betis and Manchester United.
"That gave life and confidence to those teams. Those three clubs all have something in common with Anderlecht - they were all in a difficult situation when we played them.
"Maybe our start to the season was too good to be true and we relaxed a little bit.
"When you play teams like Anderlecht, you have to start well and start strong.
"You must not give them confidence. You must not give them a reason to feel confident.
"Maybe you cannot always score at the start. But you must show your opponent you are there to get a result. You have to take away any confidence they have.
"You cannot think any games are easy. Anderlecht are not as bad a side as their record says."
