Redknapp in limbo over Lowe delay
Talks between Southampton and Portsmouth over Harry Redknapp joining Pompey are being held up as Saints chairman Rupert Lowe is shooting ducks.
Redknapp, who says he has not quit as Southampton manager but will not return to the club, admitted that the impasse has left him in limbo.
Redknapp told BBC Sport: "I would love the opportunity to speak to Portsmouth.
"Southampton want compensation but Portsmouth can't speak to Lowe as he is out shooting ducks all of Monday."
Lowe has already said he will seek compensation if Redknapp moves back to Pompey - only a year after leaving them to take up his current post.
Lowe demanded: "When a club takes another's manager they should pay up the unexpired portion of the contract.
"I'm not happy with the way it has been handled but that is football."
Portsmouth chairman Mandaric is also keen to speak to Northern Ireland manager Lawrie Sanchez over their vacant managerial job.
Sanchez has stated he would be happy to take on both roles.
"We believe that Lawrie is someone who given proper support could be a success at our club," Mandaric told BBC Sport.
"For that reason we are going to ask permission from the IFA to contact Lawrie and see what his views are."
Redknapp walked out of his job at St Mary's last week after he was refused permission to speak to Pompey about their manager's post, which has been vacant since Alain Perrin was sacked on 24 November.
Redknapp insists he will walk away from football if he cannot become Portsmouth manager again.
He has also revealed he regrets his decision to move to Saints.
He told the Sunday Mirror: "The last year has been the worst of my life and that is no exaggeration.
"I made a monumental mistake walking out of Fratton Park and a day hasn't passed since I left the ground for the last time that I didn't regret my decision.
"Events this season have simply increased my desire to get away and once Portsmouth asked permission to speak to me this week I knew I had to go back."
Lowe's decision to bring former England rugby World Cup-winning coach Clive Woodward into the backroom staff was cited by many as one of the reasons for Redknapp's unhappiness at Saints.
"As a bloke I got on with him but I have to say the decision to bring him in was bizarre," added Redknapp.
"The relationship between me and Clive was never going to work because there were too many people undermining the structure Rupert Lowe wanted at the club."

Redknapp's Pompey prospects fade
Harry Redknapp's chances of returning to Portsmouth having quit Southampton seem to be fading after Saints turned down Pompey's compensation offer.
Redknapp could be left in limbo, given Pompey chairman Milan Mandaric has now been given permission to talk to Northern Ireland boss Lawrie Sanchez.
"If they talk to other people, I could be out of the picture," Redknapp said.
"I hope they can sort a deal out. But if they can't, I could be up the creek without a paddle."
Though technically still under contract at St Mary's, former Pompey manager Redknapp has said he will not be returning to the club and was heavily tipped to take back his old job at Fratton Park.
But Saints have refused Portsmouth's written offer and Mandaric could look elsewhere rather than raising his bid.
A statement on the club's website said: "Pompey will step up their search with plans to interview more candidates."
Southampton chairman Rupert Lowe is thought to be holding out for £220,000 - the remainder of Redknapp's contract.
Pompey have offered Saints 50,000 for Redknapp if he becomes their manager, plus a further 75,000 if the Premiership club avoid relegation.
"This is the first official written compensation offer and we've turned it down," said Saints chief Rupert Lowe.
"Until we reach agreement Pompey do not have permission to speak to Harry, who is still in our employment."
Redknapp had earlier told BBC Sport he "would love the opportunity to speak to Portsmouth" but suggested they would have trouble contacting Lowe as "he was out shooting ducks all of Monday".

Pompey talk to NI manager Sanchez
Portsmouth have made further contact with Northern Ireland boss Lawrie Sanchez as they look to fill their managerial vacancy at Fratton Park.
Portsmouth chief executive Peter Storrie contacted the Irish Football Association on Monday and received permission to talk to Sanchez.
"It would have been churlish to have refused," said IFA chief Howard Wells.
Pompey are also keen on Harry Redknapp but had their offer of compensation rejected by Southampton on Monday.
Earlier, Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric had said that he believed Sanchez was someone who, given proper support, could be a success at the club.
"For that reason we will ask permission from the IFA to contact Lawrie and see what his views are," said Mandaric.
Sanchez told BBC Sport that he would be happy to take on a club role alongside his current position with Northern Ireland.
"I'm committed to the European Championships with Northern Ireland, and I'm looking forward to those games," said Sanchez.
"But if a situation came along where it would be a step up professionally, and the IFA said that they would be happy to combine the two, then it might happen in the future.
"I have really enjoyed the Northern Ireland job, but basically if a good job came along and I could not turn it down, I would look to do both jobs.
"Northern Ireland have only one game left against Estonia this season so any new role will come into place next season.
"There again, it would be one-season operation as the Europeans will be done and dusted in the one year."

Redknapp goes back to Portsmouth
Portsmouth have announced the return of Harry Redknapp as manager, just over a year after he quit the club.
Redknapp, who walked out of Pompey in November 2004 and joined bitter rivals Southampton, was delighted the clubs agreed a deal allowing him to return.
The 58-year-old said: "It took me less than a minute to sign the contract, it didn't even have any figures on it.
"The key to coming back was that Milan [Mandaric] wanted me and was big enough to say 'Harry, I want you back'."
Redknapp's return to Fratton Park signals the end of one of football's biggest soap operas.
The former West Ham manager is now back after chairmen Mandaric and Southampton couterpart Rupert Lowe agreed an undisclosed compensation package.
Redknapp takes charge of a Portsmouth team in the Premiership's bottom three and has agreed a contract until the end of the season.
"If we stay up we'll sit down and talk about it. It's not a money situation or a long contract, I just wanted to come back," he said.
It is a similar position to that of Southampton when he took the reins at St Mary's a year ago.
He failed to keep Southampton in the Premiership and Redknapp admitted: "This is a massive challenge and Milan has taken a massive gamble by bringing me back.
"But if we give it a go and work hard, we can turn it round."
Mandaric was delighted to have managed to bring Redknappback to the club.
He added: "I must say after many hard-working days in the last couple of weeks, it has finally come to the conclusion that I hoped.
"Bringing back the man who left us a year ago, bringing him back to his home, our home. He was the best manager in my time at this football club.
"I don't think I can tell you how pleased I am."
Redknapp, who succeeds French manager Alain Perrin at Fratton Park, admitted he regretted joining Pompey's rivals Southampton.
He said: "It was a bad mistake to go to Southampton and that's not being disrespectful to them, but really I shouldn't have done it for the sake of the fans.

He added: "I had a great time here, the best time of my footballing life."

Lowe was unhappy with the way the affair had been conducted.
He said: "We do not believe that this episode has been conducted within the rules of the game and have made our understanding of the last week available to both The Premier League and The Football League.
"This saga had got to the stage of being an embarrassment for football as a whole.
"Portsmouth have produced a compensation package that is just acceptable to this club and I consider that it is in Southampton's best interests to get on with the future rather than dwell on the past.
"I cannot comment on the quantum of the settlement as both clubs are bound by a confidentiality agreement."
Redknapp revealed Frank Lampard senior, father of Chelsea star Frank Lampard, was the catalyst for his return.
The new Pompey boss said: "Frank came down for the Chelsea game to watch his son and had a cup of tea with Milan.
"Frank phoned me on the way home and said: 'I think he would have you back'. And it went from there."
