Benitez moves in for Dutch star

LIVERPOOL are on the verge of signing Villarreal's Dutch fullback Jan Kromkamp.
The deal depends on Josemi going in the opposite direction as part of a swop.
Josemi is also considering an offer from Seville, but the indications are he's tempted by Villarreal's move, allowing 25-year-old Kromkamp to move the other way.
Right-back Kromkamp only moved to La Liga for ￡7m from AZ Alkmaar last summer, but he has failed to settle in Spain.
Liverpool won't be paying any fee for the player, who would join the club as cover for the impressive Steve Finnan.
Although he's failed to establish himself in La Liga, the Dutchman has featured in the Champions League, making him ineligible for the Reds' European games this season.
Josemi is now considering his decision, having recognised his Anfield career is over. An agreement has already been reached between Liverpool and Villarreal.
The Spanish defender was Rafa Benitez's first purchase as Reds boss, but he faded after a bright start. His appearances have been rare in the past 12 months and he's been regularly linked with a return home.
Meanwhile, Liverpool will discover within 10 days if a renewed application for a work permit for Mark Gonzalez has proved successful.
The Reds are reapplying on the grounds Gonzalez is a youngster of outstanding talent.
The Chilean only needs a permit for six months, after which he'll have European citizenship.
Fernando Morientes is unlikely to feature in tomorrow's home game with West Brom.
The striker hurt his knee during Wednesday's victory at Goodison Park.
