Real agree terms for Cassano Tuesday 3 January, 2006

Real Madrid have successfully concluded talks with Roma for the transfer of Antonio Cassano.
Negotiations between all parties continued in the capital this morning and an agreement has finally been reached.
"It was a difficult deal, much more so than the one regarding Walter Samuel in the past when we sorted everything out in a day," said Real’s transfer wizard Ernesto Bronzetti.
"Everyone is a winner in this move. This is a great piece of business for Roma, as they have saved themselves around £7m on a player who was coming to the end of his contract.
"Real have also won because they have signed an important player for a relatively low price.
"Cassano is a winner too because he is going to Real Madrid. Football in Spain is much more technical and he will fit in well.
"Real are short of strikers at the minute too and he will find space in the team. Will he play on Sunday? He hasn’t signed yet but there won’t be any problems."
Cassano was expected to put pen to paper on Tuesday yet it now seems that he will do so only tomorrow.
"Cassano will have his medical on Wednesday, he will then sign and be unveiled to the media," Bronzetti added.
The 23-year-old, who is believed to have cost the Spanish giants just £3.5m, could feature against Villarreal at the weekend.
The Italian international is expected to net himself around £3m a season for the next five years at the Bernabeu.
Although few Roma fans will miss the controversial attacker, one of his now former teammates has wished him well.
"I wish him all the best," said Rodrigo Taddei. "Antonio is a great lad and he has personally done me no harm.
"Is he good enough for Real Madrid? He is good enough for Italy…" |
