Skysports.com understand that Antti Niemi will join Fulham within the next 24 hours.
The Southampton keeper has been locked in overnight talks with representatives from the Premiership club and a deal worth around £1.5 million has finally been thrashed out.
It is also believed that Niemi rejected offers from a number of other clubs before agreeing the switch.
Charlton boss Alan Curbishley had been particularly keen on landing the Finnish keeper, although it is not known whether or not he turned down a move to The Valley in favour of Fulham.
Cottagers boss Chris Coleman has been keen to strengthen his goalkeeping corps after being forced to press veteran Mark Crossley into action in recent weeks.
Niemi will now take the gloves ahead of former Millwall custodian Tony Warner, who joined the club permanently on Thursday.
