Depends on which league are you playing lar
No doubt in EPL, Alan Smith should be a good sign
Piniz, compare with Mascherano (I have used them both)
Mascherano's defensive/tackle is better than Piniz.
Piniz is good at organization and long shot.
Depends on what do you need a DMC do for lar
Just tackle/help to defensive or back the forward

以我用mascherano既經驗
he has a great balance in both of attack and defence
he has a great organzation skill and great stamina to push the enemy

Pinzi,
i didnt use him before but i saw him played a real match
he's a great partner for mascherano if they played with a same team
becoz i used mascherano+maresca in my sevilla
they controlled the midfield very well
