ATLETICO MADRID 3 DEPORTIVO CORUNA 2
Atletico provided further evidence of their revival under
new coach Pepe Murcia with a determined win over a gritty Depor
who clearly missed injured playmaker Juan Carlos Valeron.
Atletico took the lead through a Maxi Rodriguez volley in
the first half but substitute Ruben levelled when his free kick
crept in at the far post at the start of the second.
Defender Antonio Lopez restored the home side's advantage
with a superbly struck free kick only to see Depor equalise
again when former Atletico player Joan Capdevila scored with a
diving header after a corner.
But Atletico claimed only their third home win this season
as Maxi scored his second by turning a Martin Petrov cross into
the net with an improvised volley nine minutes from time.

ATHLETIC BILBAO 1 GETAFE 0
A Pablo Orbaiz penalty gave Javier Clemente's side their
fourth win of the season and provided a much-needed boost for
the beleaguered Basque side.
The midfielder sent keeper Juan Calatayud the wrong way with
his spot kick 16 minutes from time after fellow midfielder Fran
Yeste was pushed in the back by defender Anibal Matellan as he
waited for the ball in the area.
Bernd Schuster's Getafe thrashed Espanyol 5-0 at home last
weekend but have now suffered seven away defeats in a row.

CADIZ 1 RACING SANTANDER 1
A result that will have done little to satisfy two teams
whose primary aim this season is to avoid the drop.
Racing took the lead midway through the second half when
midfielder Felipe Melo converted a penalty after Sergio
Matabuena had gone down under pressure from keeper Armando.
But Cadiz gained a deserved equaliser eight minutes later
when left back Raul Lopez cracked a powerful half-volley past
Racing keeper Dudu Aouate at the near post.
