Robinho, Maxi Rodriguez, and Aloisi made the difference for their teams this week, with Puyol returning to take charge of his defense. They line up in a 4-1-4-1.
Goalkeeper
1 Catalyud (Getafe): Pulled off some incredible reflex saves to deny Urzaiz, Yeste and Aduriz. Was faultless off his line, and in the air, and it needed a spot-kick to finally get past him. A superb performance, despite the lost cause.
Defenders (right to left)
2 Daniel Alves (Sevilla): Another match-winning performance from the young full back. Has always shown great vision in attack, but is beginning to look increasingly solid in defense. One to keep an eye on!
3 Puyol (Barcelona): The skipper was back to cover the defects of his flat-footed defense. The 3-0 scoreline belies the number of times Mallorca tested Barcelona on the break, and but for Puyol's reassuring presence, they might well have caved in again.
4 Perea (Atletico Madrid): After Pablo last week, it was his turn to turn it up a notch this time, demonstrating exactly why Atleti had the second best defensive reco last season.
5 Amorebieta (Athletic Bilbao): A solid defensive display against a very mobile Getafe side, to help his relegation threatened team to a slightly undesrved win, b Xiut one which pulled them out of the bottom three for perhaps the first time.
Defensive Midfied
6 Fredson (Espanyol): The underrated midfielder is fast becoming unbeatable in the air, be it defense or attack. Having also cut down on bookings from last season, he has become a real asset for Espanyol.
Attacking Midfield (right to left)
7 Maxi Rodriguez (Atletico Madrid): A consistent threat in the Deportivo box, turned in a couple of excellent goals to win a second consecutive game for for Atleti. He is really relishing the freedom to move around, after being glued to the right by Bianchi.
8 Robinho(Real Madrid): There's an air of confidence about him on the field now. A few moments of genius, which gave Real two vital goals, on a night when they were so clearly second best on the pitch. No wonder they have forgotten about Ronaldo!
9 Silva (Celta Vigo): By far the best player on the pitch for Celta. The youngster tormented Real Madrid down the left throughout the game, and had Casillas scrambling with his lobs and crosses, which swung either way. Made the most of a virtually non-existent Real Madrid right-back. Neither Cicinho, nor Beckham in the second half, got close to him.
10 Petrov (Atletico Madrid): The Bulgarian international was a livewire down the left, and turned the Deportivo defense inside out on more than a few occasions, creating chances from open play and through some accurate free-kicks.
Forward
11 John Aloisi (Alaves): Another match-winning performance to follow up last week's. His two second half goals gave Alaves their second consecutive win, their first at home this season, and finally helped them move away from the bottom.
