Former Juventus player Didier Deschamps is looking to kick-start his coaching career with a move to Italy.
The Frenchman has been out of the game since he was replaced by Francesco Guidolin at Monaco earlier this term and is hungry for a return.
After coming desperately close to being handed the Juve job in the summer of 2004, before they opted for Fabio Capello, he’s now hoping to secure a move to Serie A.
“I needed a break from the game,” said the 1998 World Cup winning captain. “I have recharged my batteries and am ready to choose a club for the new season.
“Where? Almost certainly abroad,” he added. “I know Italy very well, plus England and Spain seeing as I played there. I could work in one of these countries.”
Deschamps, a ‘water carrier’ for Marseille, Juventus, Valencia and Chelsea, has limited coaching experience but did lead the principality outfit to a Champions League Final.
Meanwhile, Monaco have today been linked with a move for Chievo Verona striker Sergio Pellissier.
He’s netted 10 goals in Serie A so far this term and is also believed to have been targeted by Paris Saint-Germain.
“I’m hoping to receive more offers, from Italy too,” the forward, who is tied to the Stadio Bentegodi outfit until 2008, said in the Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper.
“That would mean that I am still improving. I’ve scored 10 goals so far, but it would be great to reach 14.” |
