Real Madrid president Fernando Martin has drawn up a wish list of seven coaches, with Rafa Benitez, Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger among them.
The Bernabeu giants are on the lookout for a new coach, with caretaker chief Juan Ramon Lopez Caro set to be overlooked for the top job.
Real generally accept nothing but the best and Martin has set his sights on the cream of the management crop.
"We are clear about the type of coach we want," Martin told Spanish television station Antena 3 on Monday.
"We want one of the coaches that you all know we want. (Jose) Mourinho, (Fabio) Capello, (Rafa) Benitez, (Arsene) Wenger, (Carlo) Ancelotti, (Marcelo) Lippi and (Sven Goran) Eriksson."
Martin's comments are sure to place the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Milan and Juventus on high alert, but he did add that they would move through the proper channels.
Wenger and Benitez have distanced themselves from talk of Madrid in recent weeks, while Ancelotti is being strongly linked with the job in both the Spanish and Italian media.
Ancelotti recently signed a new deal at Milan, while Mourinho remains committed to continuing his Chelsea career, but England coach Sven Goran Eriksson is on the lookout for a new job for next season and could be attracted to the post in Madrid
