Reports in France have stated that William Gallas will sign for Milan this summer, should he decide to quit Chelsea.
The French international can take advantage of a new Fifa ruling which would apparently allow him to leave Stamford Bridge this summer for a fee way below his market value.
Gallas is understood to be settled in London, but is not happy being Chelsea's 'Mr Versatile' as he is regularly used in every area of defence.
The former Marseille man sees himself as a central defender and many Chelsea fans feel he and John Terry at the heart of their defence is the best option available to Jose Mourinho.
However, all too often Gallas is used as cover at right and left back - and he wants this to end.
Mourinho is a huge fan of Gallas and will do anything he can to convince him to stay - but it may be too late.
All of Europe's top clubs would gladly take Gallas, and over the last few months Arsenal, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Internazionale and Juventus have taken a keen interest in his situation.
However, it now appears Milan are in pole position to land the 28-year-old, should Chelsea fail to convince Gallas to stay in West London.
