Inzaghi out of derby Friday 14 April, 2006

Milan will have to win this evening’s derby without the services of Pippo Inzaghi after he failed to shake off a fever.

The Italian international, who is enjoying a wonderful 2006, was a doubt and it has this afternoon emerged that he won’t feature against Inter.

The former Parma and Juventus striker is struggling to get his body temperature below 38 degrees and is also suffering with his tonsils.

Boss Carlo Ancelotti will therefore not risk him at the San Siro, especially with the Champions League tie against Barcelona coming up on Tuesday.

Ancelotti will now either field Alberto Gilardino as a lone striker or risk the not fully fit Andriy Shevchenko in the usual 4-3-1-2 system.

Inzaghi’s absence will be a relief to Inter who received a further boost this morning after Adriano completed training.

The Brazilian was a doubt given his recent injury problems, but it now looks likely that he will start alongside Obafemi Martins in attack.
