Juan Sebastian Veron has confirmed that he will be leaving Inter and European football this summer.
The Argentine was considering whether to stay with the Nerazzurri for one more season, but has opted to return to his homeland for family reasons.
“I’ve made my decision,” the playmaker stated. “I’m sorry for Inter but I’ve been globetrotting for 10 years.
“I’m leaving friends, teammates who I have shared joy and pain with during my playing days in Europe.
“I will now earn just 10 per cent of what I do here in Italy, but my family is the most important thing for me.”
Veron, who is still technically a Chelsea player, has spent the last two seasons on loan at the San Siro.
He originally stepped foot into Italy after joining Sampdoria in 1996 after a brief spell at Boca Juniors.
Moves to Parma, Lazio, Manchester United and Chelsea subsequently followed before he was reunited with boss Roberto Mancini in Milan.
It’s unclear where Veron will now be playing his football even if he has suggested that he’d like to end his career with Estudiantes, the club where it all started for him in 1993.
The loss of Veron is a massive blow to Mancini as the South American was seemingly always assured a place in the starting line-up. |
