Gudjohnsen to speak to Barcelona

Chelsea made the following statement at 5pm today, Tuesday. “Chelsea Football Club has given permission for Eidur Gudjohnsen to travel to Spain for talks with Barcelona. An agreement between all parties is still pending.”



Gudjohnsen joined Chelsea in 2000 for £4m. In six years he has played 263 games. In our history, only Gianfranco Zola amongst overseas players has played more. He has started 177 games and been a playing substitute in a further 86. He has scored 78 goals.



On his debut at Wembley he won the Charity Shield, and has since won two Premierships, a Carling Cup and a Community Shield. In the Carling Cup Final he was a half-time substitute. He has also won an FA Cup runners-up medal.



While with Chelsea he has won 36 of his 40 Iceland caps and scored 15 of his 16 international goals. He is Iceland’s captain.



Last season he made 25+12 appearances and scored three goals.

El Futbol Club Barcelona i el Chelsea han arribat a un acord per al trasps del davanter islands Eidur Gudjohnsen, que ja est a la capital catalana. Gudjohnsen passar revisi mdica aquest dimecres al mat. El club i el jugador han arribat a un principi d'acord per a les prximes quatre temporades. Gudjohnsen ocuparia la plaça d'Henrik Larsson, que ha tornat al seu pas.

Ocupa la baixa de Larsson

Fa uns mesos Henrik Larsson va anunciar que quan acabs la temporada amb el Barça, volia acabar la seva carrera esportiva al seu pas, ms concretament al Helsingborg, la seva localitat natal. Un cop aconseguida la final de la Lliga de Campions el 17 de maig a Pars, Frank Rijkaard i Txiki Begiristain van posar fil a l'agulla per buscar un substitut al davanter suec.

Eidur Gudjohnsen comes to the club to take Henrik Larsson's place in the squad and the Icelander will ,wear the Swede's number 7 shirt next season.  
  
  
Eidur Gudjohnsen passed his medical with the club this lunch time and will be officially presented as Frank Rijkaard's first signing for the 2006-7 season this evening.


Gudjohnsen, who arrived in Barcelona on Tuesday evening, is set to sign for four seasonsafter taking various medical tests at the Hospital de Barcelona and the club' sown medical centre earlier today.

Gil Rodas gives OK

Following the medical tests, club doctor confirmed Gudjohnson's fitness, explaining: "he's obviously been looking after himself and he's very fit. There's no obvious problems from his previous injuries and I'll be giving Txiki the medical OK to sign him".
