The 1064 fans in attendance at Fishball stadium were roasting in the hot sun. FR4 tactics involved an interesting 5-4-1 combination. The following players took the field: Höfenkoppel - Man Fai, Petrić, Agustiono, Hielkema, Talpaz - Jer Yaw, Thomas, Zhi Huan, Tuckey - Szu Ma.
McLaren decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. Lineup: Wood - Jian Yi, Hei ar, Vuletić - Grindstein, Chee Han, Zeytuni, Azuri, Fairley - Sooväli, Way.
It was an obvious ambition of FR4 to use their ability at attacking on the flanks. McLaren tried to focus their attacks down the middle. A mistake by the home side's central defence in the 10th minute allowed Josh Fairley to score the 0 - 1 goal for McLaren. FR4's Cheung Zhi Huan put his head to a well placed ball, lifted in from the left, and scored the 1 - 1 goal in the 20th minute. 21 minutes in, the referee awarded FR4 a penalty. Ng Jer Yaw coolly slotted it home for a 2 - 1 lead. FR4 had to make a substitution in the 28th minute. Gatot Subakti Agustiono limped off the field and was replaced by Kristoffer Larsson. There was a bit of a mixup on the field as McLaren found themselves out of position and their organization level dropped to weak. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased FR4's lead to 3 - 1 as David Thomas finished it off competently, firing from an acute angle. The visitors replied in the game's 39th minute, scoring the 3 - 2 goal, as Frank Sooväli dashed up the middle, easily lobbing the ball over the home team's keeper. 3 - 2 was the halftime score. FR4 held the ball, with a clear 60 percent of possession.
McLaren's coach had an extra briefing during the break, and after that his players had solid organization. In the 48th minute, FR4's Danijel Petrić received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
