fr:www.swfc.premiumtv.co.uk-- Sheffield Wednesday legend Kevin Pressman has today called time on his 19-year playing career.The goalkeeper, who made 478 appearances for the Owls between 1987 and 2004, has announced his retirement from football after being released by Mansfield Town at the end of last season.
Pressman made his debut in a 1-1 draw at Southampton after coming through the Hillsborough ranks and proceeded to become SWFC's second-highest post-war appearance maker behind Alan Finney. The England 'B' international would arguably have topped Finney's total of 503 outings but at various times through his Owls career had to beat off the challenge of goalkeeping rivals such as Martin Hodge, Chris Turner, Chris Woods and Pavel Srnicek. Pressman outlasted them all, becoming something of a penalty hero in the process, and went on to assist as goalkeeping coach at the club he had supported as a boy.
After leaving Hillsborough, Pressman had spells at Leicester City and Leeds United before making 46 appearances for Mansfield last season. But, now aged 38, he was released by Stags boss Peter Shirtliff at the end of the term to bring down the curtain on a career that will forever be associated with Sheffield Wednesday.
