The derby had been the talk of Central and Western all week and fans of both teams could be seen throughout the stadium. andcheuk decided to use a 4-4-2 set up. They fielded: Wei Chi - Hui Meng, Shang Lin, Yong Jin, Mun choon - Tsu Wee, Hsien Wen, Sing Tat, Kiu - Yeow Whye, Hu Hau. I.C.F.C. had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Branchini - Sugár, Krček, Calderón, Dálik - Changguo, Bušić, Mac Intyre, Kataja - Huaiyao, Convers. Chen Mun choon tipped the corner kick right to the keeper, who mishandled it, giving andcheuk's Ke Hsien Wen a chance to knock it in for 1-0. Some brilliant football from the visitors' right wing resulted in a 26th minute levelling of score as I.C.F.C.'s Liao Changguo put the ball in the net for 1 - 1.
