CARRA: DON'T WORRY ABOUT DAN

Jamie Carragher has backed Daniel Agger to bounce back from his Stamford Bridge disappointment to help Liverpool book a place in this season's Champions League final at the expense of Chelsea tonight.
Agger was given a torrid time by Didier Drogba during last week's first leg but Carragher insists there's no reason for the Danish defender to doubt himself ahead of this evening's return.
"I had a good chat with Danny after the game last week and told him he can be proud of the way he's performed for us this season," said Carragher.
"He got a bit of stick here and in Denmark after the first leg but it's bang out of order. I promise you, we've nothing to worry about when it comes to Daniel Agger. He's a top defender and it's a learning process for him, especially when you're playing against someone who is possibly the best striker in the world.
"Dan's been one of our players of the year and there's a good argument to say he's actually been the best. In five Champions League games against Chelsea, we've conceded one goal.
"Dan was man-of-the-match when we played them in the Charity Shield and they needed a wonder goal at Stamford Bridge to beat us. He can go into this game feeling really confident he'll play as well he has all season."
And Carragher is remaining confident the Reds can claw back the one goal deficit and set up a place in the Athens final - especially as they're being led by 'the best manager in the world'.
"People say if you talk about the money Chelsea have spent to get their success it's just an excuse for the clubs who aren't competing, but it's undoubtedly a massive factor," he says.
"They've spent nearly half-a-billion to build a team. For us to be even competing with them every year for one major trophy is a major achievement as far as I'm concerned.
"We want to be competing with them on all fronts and hopefully from next season we'll be able to do that with the new owners, but under the circumstances we've had since Rafa came here, to beat them in two cup competitions and have the chance to do it again is fantastic.
"I know we've spent money on players as well, but nowhere near at the same level as Chelsea. They're the richest club in the history of football, with a great manager and some of the world's best players, but it's down to us they don't have a Champions League or FA Cup already added to what they've won under Mourinho.
"When you look at what Rafa has done in three years, it's outstanding. He joined us just after Arsenal had finished champions with an unbeaten record and you'd never have believed then we could possibly finish above them in the Premiership two out of the next three seasons and win more trophies.
"Chelsea were already spending millions on top players at that time, United were able to go out and buy Rooney, and yet Liverpool have still won the Champions League and the FA Cup.
"Pound for pound, trophy for trophy, Rafa has clearly been the best manager in England since he came here because of the circumstances in which he's brought us success and the standard of team we've beaten to do it. There's no way Mourinho or anyone else in the world could have done any better.
"Rafa's one of the reasons why we go into this game so confident. He's proven on many occasions how, tactically, he's the best manager in the world." |
