El Chino wants Roma

Inter striker Alvaro Recoba has stated that he would gladly change club this summer if it were to join Roma.
The Uruguayan player, who joined the Nerazzurri in 1997, had recently declared that he was ready to leave the San Siro, having been granted few chances to shine this term.
“I would like to play with Roma, although I will need to speak with President Massimo Moratti before I take any decision,” Recoba told Centro Suono Sport.
“I have a great relationship with the President and I will meet him this week,” added the 31-year-old.
“I had never thought of playing for another Italian club aside from Inter, but if Moratti were to give me his permission and there were the chance to join Roma I would go immediately.
“The Giallorossi play great football. How would it be to play next to Francesco Totti? He scores many goals, together we could score even more.”
El Chino admits that it is not an easy decision for him to leave, but that he is looking for more first team football.
“I want to play more, this is not a matter of money. I have never earned what was written by the Press,” explained the striker, who was once reportedly Serie A’s highest-paid player.
“I feel like a 26-year-old, but not being able to play with continuity has not helped me. To improve further I would have to take football more seriously, the only reason I play is because I enjoy myself.
“However, in today’s football that is not enough, but I have never taken advantage of that fact,” concluded Recoba.
The striker’s most prolific season was in 1999, when he scored 10 goals in 19 games during his six-month loan spell at Venezia. |
