Palermo confirm Colantuono deal

Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini has confirmed that Stefano Colantuono is the new Rosanero Coach.
The former Atalanta boss extended his contract with the Bergamaschi until 2009 this winter, but recent reports had linked him with a Sicilian switch to replace Francesco Guidolin.
“Colantuono signed a deal with us today,” said Zamparini [pictured] to Radio Radio TV. “We have also agreed a contract with Giulio Migliaccio, but this had already been finalised before Colantuono’s decision.
“The Atalanta player was already on Francesco Guidolin’s wish list. As for strikers, we already have Amauri, Edison Cavani, Radoslaw Matusiak, so I don’t think we will have any problems.
“Stephen Makinwa? I will meet Claudio Lotito on June 7 – he is a smart and intelligent person. We are interested in the Nigerian and if he were to return we would be just fine.”
Zamparini also confirmed that Livorno’s World Cup winning goalkeeper Marco Amelia is a Rosanero target, as well as Alberto Aquilani of Roma.
“We like Amelia, he would be very useful for us. As for Aquilani, I will ask Roma to see if they are interested in a deal, even on a co-ownership basis.
“He is definitely a great player. The Giallorossi might want Andrea Caracciolo in exchange, Luciano Spalletti likes him. We will see what happens,” concluded the Rosanero chief. |
