Chivu 'prefers Barca to Inter'

International agent Ernesto Bronzetti is sure Cristian Chivu would prefer to join Barcelona rather than Italian champions Inter.
The Roma defender has been heavily paired with a San Siro switch, but the Spanish giants renewed their interest over the past few days and are allegedly ready to pay cash for the former Ajax star.
“Chivu would prefer Barcelona,” said Bronzetti to Centro Suono Sport. “I don’t believe Inter are favoured in the race to sign the player, the Blaugrana came to Roma to negotiate with the player and Roma officials are aware of this.
“Conversations are underway and the Spanish management is waiting to finalise the last details with the player’s agents,” added the transfer guru, who is acting as mediator in the operation.
“I believe there will be some news tonight. An agreement between Roma and Barcelona isn’t impossible, the parties are not to distant.”
Bronzetti then denied that Real Madrid are also following the player, despite the latest rumours suggesting that the Romanian has been targeted by Ramon Calderon’s side.
“I don’t think that is true. I believe Chivu will join Barcelona, the only thing that still needs to be decided is the fee. The Blaugrana have offered Ludovic Giuly, Silvinho or Juliano Belletti, we need to understand if Luciano Spalletti is interested in one of the three.
“I have also heard reports suggesting that Gianluca Zambrotta might be part of the deal, but he is untransferable just as Daniele De Rossi is for Roma.
“I am sure Rosella Sensi would cut off her hand before selling her precious midfielder,” concluded Bronzetti.
In the meantime, Roma sporting director Daniele Pradè will fly to Barcelona this evening, when the Catalans will present their new offer to the Giallorossi.
