Lazio eye Nuno Gomes

Lazio are lining up a bid for Portuguese striker Nuno Gomes as they look to strengthen their squad for the Champions League.
The 30-year-old is likely to leave Benfica and sources in Portugal claim that the Biancocelesti will challenge West Ham for his signature.
Gomes is no stranger to Italian football – he spent two years with Fiorentina between 2000 and 2002, hitting the target 14 times in 53 appearances.
As the capital club await a decision they are also reportedly making advances for Sevilla’s Ernesto Javier Chevanton.
The Uruguayan hitman has hinted that he would welcome the chance to work with Delio Rossi – the man who launched his career at Lecce.
Chevanton was a revelation with the Giallorossi, netting 47 times in just 88 outings between 2001 and 2004 before completing a switch to Monaco.
He has failed to replicate the form he showed in Serie A and may relish a return to the peninsula.
Lazio officials are set to meet the 26-year-old’s agent this week in the hope of reducing his wage demands.
