Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley has given gaffer Alan Shearer a four-point plan which the 38-year-old ex-player must put into play if the club are to be given any money for rebuilding.
1. Sell at least 12 players to raise £30m in transfer income with the biggest assets including Oba Martins, Fabricio Coloccini and Sebastien Bassong first out of the door.
2. Halve the wage bill - cutting from its current crippling level of £74m, the fifth-highest in the Premier League, with 15 stars on more than £50,000 a week.
3. Save £ 10m a year by getting rid out-of-contract stars Michael Owen and Mark Viduka.
4. Axe up to 100 club employees as income plunges by an estimated £50m next season.
Alan Shearer is yet to respond to these demands, but is expected to comply and take charge of club affairs from as early as the 1st of next month.

Todays news that the prolific striker Jermain Beckford has refused to sign a new contract has put a host of Championship sides on the alert.
He is expected to be sold for just £2m as he enters the last year of his contract, and Newcastle and QPR are the first names being bandied about as possible destinations.
Newcastle, with Alan Shearer in charge for next season, is expected to give him his big chance to prove himself in the higher division, with a chance of moving up to the Premiership next season.
QPR are also looking at adding some English backbone to a mostly foreign side and could easily afford to bring Beckford to Loftus Road. They will also be hoping to challenge for promotion next season after a very disappointing season. The millionaire owners have not been spending the billions that were expected last summer.
There will be much speculation in the coming weeks, but Beckford himself would jump at the chance to join Newcastle
