Manchester City beat Chelsea in race to sign David Silva from Valencia for £29m - report
Manchester City have agreed a deal worth £29 million to take David Silva to Eastlands from Valencia, according to a report from The Daily Mail.
The Citizens are believed to have beaten Premier League rivals Chelsea to the signature of the Spanish star, currently at World Cup 2010 in South Africa with Vicente del Bosque's Spain squad.
The 24-year-old is now reportedly ready to finalise a deal worth £160,000 a week over four years.
Chelsea could yet step in at the last minute, but City are seemingly confident that the deal in place will be concluded soon.
Real Madrid were also reported to be interested in the creative forward, and the player himself had seemed keen on a move to Stamford Bridge.
However, City, who apparently plan to link Silva with James Milner and Yaya Toure in a new-look midfield, were the only side who could match Valencia's valuation of the star.
