Sunderland show Pavlyuchenko interest
Roman Pavlyuchenko's agent has confirmed to ESPNsoccernet that the striker is attracting interest from the Premier League and the Bundesliga, but any club hoping to sign his client in January must be prepared to meet Tottenham's demands.
Despite earning praise for turning around his career in North London following a difficult start after his move from Spartak Moscow in 2008, Pavlyuchenko still does not command a regular place in the club's starting XI, with Peter Crouch striking up a productive partnership with Rafael van der Vaart and Jermain Defoe also providing strong competition for places.
It is understood that Sunderland, following the sale of Darren Bent to Aston Villa, are interested in the Russia international, while the possibility of a move to the Bundesliga has been repeatedly suggested over the past two seasons.
However, both manager Harry Redknapp and chairman Daniel Levy are known to like Pavlyuchenko and any interested party will have to make a substantial offer for the player who cost Tottenham £13.8 million following his impressive performances at Euro 2008.
"There is interest from some clubs in England and Germany but Roman has two more years on his contract with Tottenham," agent Oliver Wendt told ESPNsoccernet.
"It's not in our hands if he can move or not. The decision is Tottenham's if they let him go or not and I think it is important another club likes to pay." |
