Alexis: There’s only one ‘Matador’

Barcelona and Chilean national team winger, Alexis Sanchez scored both goals in his side’s shocking 0-2 win over England at Wembley Stadium on Friday evening, but the 24-year-old refused to draw comparisons between he and the man who accomplished the same feat 15 years ago, Marcelo ‘El Matador’ Salas.
In his post-match interview, Alexis admitted he was “pleased” with the victory and his own personal performance, but stressed that he needs to create his own legend and not take anything away from what Salas was able to accomplish.
“There’s only one Matador and I have yet to make history in football. The eagerness and the pressure by the players allows us to get in their box and this victory adds to our confidence for the World Cup.
“England was always in it, they had their chances, but we did well and showed our might throughout the match. England has a lot of potential in the World Cup, they always play with excitement and a lot of enthusiasm.”
The aforementioned Marcelo Salas was on hand for the match and praised Alexis, stating that he’s “overjoyed” by the performance of the forward he has known “since he was a child,” before concluding that “Chile has a great team and they are in a good run of form.”
