Steven Gerrard looks to be on his way out of Anfield after his agent told Sky Sports News that talks over a new Liverpool deal have stalled, and were unlikely to be re-opened.
Media speculation has intensified over the weekend after a reported fall-out between the Liverpool skipper and the club's officials.
Talks over a new deal were said to have hit a major stumbling block and now Gerrard's agent has confirmed the troubles.
Struan Marshall told Sky Sports News that not only have talks stalled with Liverpool, but that they were unlikely to be re-opened.
"Talks with Liverpool have stalled over a new contract for Steven Gerrard and are unlikely to be reopened," Marshall told Sky Sports News.
Gerrard was eager to sign a new contract with The Reds after lifting the UEFA Champions League trophy in dramatic fashion in Istanbul.
However, it is Liverpool's reluctance to offer a fresh deal that has reportedly angered the dynamic midfield man.
Talks began last Monday when the players returned for pre-season training, and initial discussions were said to have been positive. |
