Corinthians: Tevez Hospitalised
Carlitos Tevez, who celebrated his 22nd birthday on Sunday, has been hospitalised after coming down ill late Monday night. The Argentinean star was rushed to Hospital São Luiz in Morumbi where he remains under observation, but out of danger.
After celebrating his birthday in the company of family and friends, Tevez suddenly felt sick and began sweating heavily with a high fever during the night. Club doctor Fábio Novi took the player to hospital to avoid any further consequences.
With a folder full of tests under his arm, Fábio Novi confirmed that ‘El Apache’ wasn’t suffering from anything more malignant than either a viral infection or an adverse reaction to the yellow fever vaccine the player took two weeks ago.
The scare puts Tevez’s presence in Wednesday’s game against São Caetano, away at the Anacleto Campanella stadium, in doubt. “If he recovers the weight he lost in time, ten he could even play. If not, there’s no doubt that he’ll be ready for the Santos derby next weekend” Paulo de Faria, another Timão sawbones, assured reporters.
Tevez will spent the night in the Hospital São Luiz (Morumbi), rehydrating and remaining under observation. With a few outside observers, mainly supporters of rival teams, suggesting that Carlitos may have overdone the celebrating, best friend Betao cleared the air.
“First of all, Carlitos doesn’t drink (alcohol). His family was there, and it was a really intimate get-together. I left there about five in the afternoon, and only found out about the hospitalisation a couple of hours ago”, explained Betão, who hurried off to call the family and find out more.
