Wenger sees strength and weakness
Arsene Wenger blamed Arsenal's lack of "physical pressure" for the defeat at Chelsea but believes his team will realise its "huge potential".
After seeing his men lose 1-0 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, Wenger told Sky Sports: "I feel we are not incisive around the box and did not force them to make mistakes.
"We made one mistake you cannot afford at that level and that's why we lost the game.
"It was a defensive error because they should not be in the position when they should get luck."
Wenger felt Ashley Cole should have been awarded a penalty after he appeared to be tripped in the box in the first half, but the Gunners boss added: "I felt yes [it was a penalty], but it's up to the referee to make a decision."
Wenger added: "I feel our physical pressure was too weak, therefore we did not score. We had enough possession to score goals and we need to be more efficient.
"There are a lot of positives but you have to acknowledge we gave a stupid goal away and did not score.
"My team is focused and can get a lot of belief from today. There's huge potential in the team and they can start to believe it." |
