Portsmouth seal Olisadebe swoop

Portsmouth have completed a deal to sign Poland striker Emmanuel Olisadebe until the end of the season.
The 27-year-old had returned to Greek side Panathinaikos after failing to impress in a trial at Fratton Park last week - but the move was revived.

Details of the transfer were not revealed but Olisadebe said: "It feels good to be back after my trial here.

"I am excited about the prospect of playing in the Premier League which is the best in the world."

Olisadebe was born in Nigeria but has played 25 times for Poland.

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp is expected to make more signings during the the January transfer window.

Skysports.com can reveal that Portsmouth are locked in talks with Auxerre forward Mwaruwari Benjani.

Portsmouth made a bid for the Zimbabwean international earlier this week and now they have been given the go-ahead to open negotiations with Benjani.

Fratton Park boss Harry Redknapp is keen to bolster his squad and has made Benjani one of his top targets in the transfer window.

Benjani is looking to leave Auxerre after falling out of favour with Jacques Santini.

The pacey striker has now flown to the South Coast to discuss personal terms and a deal could be in the offing.

Agent Willie McKay, who is brokering the deal, revealed talks were underway and that he was hopeful a move could be completed.

"Benjani is currently at Portsmouth speaking to them about a move," McKay told skysports.com.

"The two clubs have practically agreed the deal and there a just a few bits and pieces to be tied up.

"Benjani is excited about the prospect of playing in England and he wants to try and help keep Portsmouth up."
