Lescott completes Everton switch


Everton have completed the signing of defender Joleon Lescott from Wolves.
A statement on the Premiership club's website confirmed the 23-year-old had made the switch to the Toffees for an undisclosed fee.

Lescott, who is believed to have cost around £5m, signed a four-year deal at Goodison Park, witnessed by Everton manager David Moyes.

Moyes has already secured the signature of striker Andrew Johnson from Crystal Palace for £8.6m.

Lescott was ever-present in the Championship for Wolves last season and was named supporters' player of the season.

But the former England under-21 international missed out on the chance to play in the Premiership in 2003 when Wolves were in the top-flight due to injury.

Lescott, a product of Wolves' youth system, made over 200 appearances for the Molineux oufit and scored 13 goals.

Former Fulham midfielder Lee Clark believes Steed Malbranque would be a "fantastic signing" for his current club Newcastle.
Clark - who plied his trade at Craven Cottage between 1999 and 2005 - got to know the talented Frenchman well during his stay in the capital and claims he would be a major asset to the Magpies if, as predicted, he leaves the Cottagers this summer.
"If we can get Steed to come it would be a fantastic signing," Clark told the Evening Chronicle. "He is a player I rate very highly. He has great feet and can play anywhere in midfield.
"And not only will he get goals, he will get you 10 a season, but his final pass also creates lots of goals for other players.
"In the five seasons I played alongside him at Craven Cottage, I can only remember him having one real injury - a groin - so you can always rely on him to give you over 30 games a season. He trains very hard and is a player who loves his football and I'm sure our supporters would appreciate him.
"He is a very talented footballer and I always thought that France were grooming him to take over from Zinedine Zidane, so I was surprised he wasn't in their World Cup squad."

  El primer fichaje de la temporada 2006/07 ya ha firmado su contrato con el FC Barcelona. Eidur Gudjohnsen, que se ha comprometido con el Barça por cuatro años, tendr una clusula de rescisin de 60 millones de euros.


El FC Barcelona ya tiene uno nuevo '7'. El sustituto de Henrik Larsson, que llevar el mismo nmero que el delantero sueco, es Eidur Gudjohnsen, que este mircoles, hacia las 18:45 horas, ha firmado su contrato con el FC Barcelona hasta el 30 de junio de 2010.

Pruebas mdicas

Ha sido un da intenso para el jugador islands, que lleg a Barcelona el martes por la noche. Muy temprano, el nuevo delantero del Barça ya estaba en el Hospital de Barcelona, donde se ha sometido a diversas pruebas mdicas. En las instalaciones del Camp Nou, ha continuado la batera de pruebas en el Centro de Medicina Deportiva FC Barcelona Assistncia Sanitaria Col·legial. El doctor Gil Rodas ha confirmado el buen estado fsico del jugador, que no arrastra ninguna molestia de la rotura del peron que sufri en 1996 ni de la artoscopia que se hizo en la rodilla en 1998.

Trabajo en las oficinas

Despus de una mañana repleta de controles mdicos, el jugador se ha dirigido a las oficinas del club, donde, en presencia de sus representantes, ha firmado el contrato que lo vincula con el FC Barcelona hasta el 2010. Posteriormente, el delantero, de 27 años, se ha presentado oficialmente con la camiseta azulgrana y ha vuelto en pisar el csped del Camp Nou, despus de que lo hiciera por ltima vez con el Chelsea, el pasado 7 de marzo.

Hammers swoop for United ace

West Ham have swooped to sign Manchester United's highly-rated young defender Jonathan Spector in a deal worth around £500,000.
The Hammers have been keen to bolster their defence all summer and Spector's versatility has seen the Hammers swoop to snap up the young American.

The 20-year-old spent last season on loan with Charlton and the Addicks were believed to be keen on the possibility of another season-long deal.
However Manchester United have opted to cash in on the player and West Ham have taken advantage with a cut-price move for the player.

Spector's first-team chances at Old Trafford looked extremely slim with Gabriel Heinze now fully fit and Patrice Evra and Nemanja Vidic brought in during the January transfer window.

Spector becomes the Hammers second signing after Lee Bowyer and has penned a long-term contract at Upton Park.
