World Cup star Chris Birchall is being targeted by a host of clubs.
The Trinidad and Tobago midfielder starred during the finals and is now being monitored by a clutch of teams
Birchall was previously considered to be winger at Port Vale, but Leo Beenhakker used him in a central role and he thrived against world-class opposition - including England and Sweden.
Ipswich are reported to be leading the chase, although the likes of Norwich, Reading and Sheffield United are all thought to be keeping a close check on the 22-year-old.
The player’s representative, Alex Levack of SEM, refused to confirm Birchall was on his way out of Vale Park.
"It was pain to see how well Chris did during the World Cup and we were all delighted for him," Levack told skysports.com.
"No doubt clubs will have taken an interest, given his performances.
"However, we have not talked with anyone and would not do so unless Port Vale instructed us otherwise.
"Chris is happy and he would be more than happy to continue playing at Vale Park."
