Manchester City have confirmed the signing of 19-year-old attacking midfielder Gai Assulin, who recently left Barcelona.
Assulin, who at 16 became the youngest player to be capped for Israel, will move to Eastlands on a two-and-a-half year deal.
He was a transfer target for Arsenal, but has decided to move to Eastlands having trained with City for the past few weeks. He told the official Manchester City website that he is "excited" to play in the Premier League.
"I had heard a lot about City, and as soon as I saw the club I wanted to stay," Assulin said. "I'm at a great club and I hope to be here a long time. I have to take my opportunity and learn every day in training. I hope to show I can play at this level."
Assulin, who played against City in a friendly at the start of last season, made his competitive debut for Barcelona in the Copa del Rey against Cultural Leonesa in October 2009, and is looking forward to following in the footsteps of team-mate Yaya Toure.
Assulin said: "I speak with Yaya every day - and I hope to be playing alongside him." |
