There is news in the French press this morning that Newcastle’s signing of top target Lille winger, Gervinho,  is imminent.

The Foot01.com web-site above is reporting that Sky Sports said yesterday that the signing of Gervinho by the Magpies is now imminent.
It appears the Lille striker could join his team mate Johan Cabaye, who will join Newcastle later this week following French International duty.
The Ivorian striker’s agent is said to be currently negotiating the final details of his transfer to the Newcastle United club.
If this is true it will be fantastic news for Newcatsle fans, who seem to have taken to the winger’s style of play – not to mention his goal scoring ability and terrific speed.
Maybe that tweet from Cheick Tiote recently that his friend would be joining Newcastle – did indeed refer to his Ivory Coast team-mate Gervinho arriving on Tyneside.
This would be great news – if true.
In the French report, the fee quoted is said to be around two and a half times what Lille paid for the player from Le Mans in the summer of 2009.
That fee was said to be €8M, so €20M would be around £18M – which seems really high to us – but maybe something has been lost in translation – as they say.  
Arsenal have also been pursuing the player, but this would be a break-though summer signing for the Magpies- if it happens.

佢傷左一排姐,基本上係必然正選

計埋佢潛力,會不斷進步(如無意外5年後,應是國家隊必然正選),又可以用15年,收30M,一年都只係2M,好抵了

For better or worse, he nets you 30 goals in 79 games. You (Newcastle fans in general) blame him for his pathetic performance in this last game for you. So he caused you your relegation?

What I see is a bunch of Newcastle fans trying to create the cult of Owen betrayal so to vent the frustration of their once relegation.
You may find another target, Mr Butt just infiltrated into your club and played like shit so to cause your relegation deliberately, do you feel better?

He is not a loyal player, a mercenary? May be. But your comments are far too harsh.
