PSV Eindhoven are fearing a Premiership raid for South Korean full back Lee Young-pyo.

Dutch paper Eindhoven Dagblad are reporting that PSV are bracing themselves for a bid from an as yet unnamed club from The Premiership for the talented defender.

PSV have already seen one Korean head to England after Park Ji-sung was lured to Manchester United and the Dutch champions are rumoured to be fearful they could also lose Lee.

The reports do not shed light on who may be in the market for Lee, but it is being suggested that United could attempt to reunite Park with Lee at Old Trafford.

Like his fellow countryman Park, Lee has flourished in the Eredivisie and has established himself as a firm favourite in Eindhoven.

His all-action displays up and down the left flank have set him apart from most other full backs in the Dutch top flight and he certainly has the tools to flourish in The Premiership.

PSV have seen a number of key figures move on from Eindhoven this term and manager Guus Hiddink will be loath to lose another established star

AS Monaco FC have signed France midfield player Camel Meriem from FC Girondins de Bordeaux for a fee in the region of €6m.

Long association
Meriem has put pen to paper on a four-year contract with Monaco, bringing an end to his four-and-a-half year association with Bordeaux. "Monaco have bought out the last two years of Meriem's contract," said Bordeaux in a statement.

Signed from Sochaux
The 25-year-old joined the Girondins club from FC Sochaux-Montbéliard midway through the 2001/02 campaign, going on to make 82 league appearances and winning the French League Cup in his first season.

UEFA Cup finalist
He was loaned to Olympique de Marseille in 2003/04 and impressed as the Vélodrome side reached the UEFA Cup final against Valencia CF. Meriem played nine games en route to Gothenburg, but had to wait until November last year, when he was back at Bordeaux, to earn the first of his three France caps.

Change of role
Meriem was deployed on the right of midfield by Bordeaux coach Michel Pavon, yet is expected to fill a more central role for Monaco. The principality team, third in Ligue 1 in 2004/05, will enter the UEFA Champions League in the third qualifying round.

Fiore seals Viola switch

Stefano Fiore has ended his La Liga nightmare after agreeing to move to Fiorentina.

The Italian international was signed by Valencia shortly after Claudio Ranieri became Coach last summer.

But things quickly turned sour as he failed to adjust to life in Spain and Ranieri departed the club earlier this year.

“I arrive in Florence with the best intentions to recover the year I lost in Valencia. I want to redeem myself and to do well for this club,” stated Fiore on the Official Fiorentina website.

“Here I know that I can do very well because I only needed to speak on the phone with Mr Prandelli to realise what kind of work he wants.

“I can find space in the middle of the pitch – behind the strikers or in front of the defence – undertaking a technical job but at the same time with sacrifice.

“I can also score apart from giving assists to my teammates, but it’s better not to talk about this before the start of the season, because they say it brings bad luck,” he added.

The deal sees Fiore arrive at the Tuscan outfit on a season long loan with a view to making the deal permanent next summer.

Romeo makes fresh start at Osasuna


MADRID, July 12 (Reuters) - Argentine striker Bernardo Romeo is determined to erase the memories of an unsuccessful first season in Spain after completing the switch from Real Mallorca to join Osasuna on Tuesday.
'I had a number of offers from other countries, but I chose Osasuna because I still had a bitter taste in my mouth as a result of my first season in Spain,' the 27-year-old said at his presentation to the media on Tuesday.


'I am determined to succeed in this league.'

Romeo joined Mallorca on loan from Hamburg SV in January, but played just 10 games with the struggling islanders who escaped relegation on the final say of the season.

Mallorca decided against using their option on the Argentine and he joined Osasuna on a free after being released by Hamburg.

'For various reasons I couldn't play as much as I wanted (at Mallorca), but that is in the past and I'm now starting a new stage,' said Romeo. 'I'm very happy to be here.'

Osasuna finished in 15th place in the Primera Liga last season and reached the final of the King's Cup for the first time, losing 2-1 to Real Betis in extra-time.

PSV trial Korean ace

PSV Eindhoven have handed a trial to South Korean keeper Ki-seok Cha.

The 18-year-old shot-stopper is hoping to impress manager Guus Hiddink with a view to earning a contract.

The Dutch giants had the chance to run the rule over the youngster earlier in the summer, as he was in Holland representing his country in the Fifa's Youth World Cup.

PSV have lost one South Korean this summer following Park Ji-sung sale to Manchester United, but could replace him with Cha.

Mallorca are keen to land Internazionale midfielder Giorgias Karagounis on loan.

Karagounis is currently surplus to requirements at Giuseppe Meazza and could depart to gain first-team football.

Mallorca have not officially confirmed their intentions although coach Hector Cuper is reportedly keen to do a deal.

Cuper is worried about financing a deal for the Greek star saying: "Financially, it will not be easy.

"If Karagounis arrives the spine of the team will be strengthened and some of last season's problems will be gone."

Monaco plan Lee move

South Korean international Lee Young-pyo seems set to leave PSV Eindhoven.

The 28-year-old is believed to be keen on a move away from the Dutch champions.

PSV boss Guus Hiddink held talks with the full back on Wednesday to discuss his future and it appears the player has decided to leave the Philips Stadion.

Hiddink had hoped to keep Lee, but with the player's contract having only a year to run, PSV are prepared to sell him now rather than risk losing him for nothing next year.

Monaco are thought to be leading the chase to sign Lee as they plan for next season.

The French side are expected to arrive in Holland later this week to open talks and they are ready to meet PSV's asking price of €5 million for the player.

Greeks seal Toure deal

Olympiakos have completed the signing of Ivory Coast midfielder Yaya Toure from Metalurg Donetsk.

The brother of Arsenal stopper Kolo has moved to the Greek champions for €1.2 million on a three-year deal to bring an end to his spell in Ukraine.

The talented youngster emerged from the famed Asec academy in his home country and has threatened to make an impression in Europe ever since joining Arsenal feeder club Beveren.

The Gunners have always kept tabs on the player's progress during his development, and Toure has now been offered the opportunity to prove himself in one of Europe's more prestigious leagues with the Piraeus outfit.

After completing the deal Toure, who is reported to be earning €500,000 per year on his new contract, expressed his hope that he could help Olympiakos earn more silverware alongside Brazilian star Rivaldo.

"Olympiakos is the best choice for me," Toure told the club's official website.

"I feel great that I am going to play with Rivaldo.

"Olympiakos is a big European club and I want to help them to celebrate titles.

"I will try my best in order to fulfil the expectations of the fans and the people who trusted me, I am not going to disappoint them.

"I know [Olympiakos coach Trond] Sollied, he is a great trainer."

Siena snap up Nanni

Siena have secured the loan signing of Dynamo Kiev flop Roberto Nanni.

The Argentinian striker joined the Ukrainian powerhouses in August 2003, but failed to fire in Kiev.

He joined Almeria on loan last autumn, but missed out on a permanent move to the Spanish second division side.

But he has been offered the chance to reignite his career in Italy after Siena brought him to the club on a season-long loan.

Siena, who recently lost the services of Tore Andre Flo, also have the option of a permanent deal and Nanni is overjoyed to have clinched the move.

"I had wanted to arrive in Italy before," Nanni told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"It has always been a dream for me. Now, I want to take this big chance with Siena."

The Serie A club are also still trying to finalise a deal with Middlesbrough to take Massimo Maccarone on loan again.

Inter announce Pizarro swoop

David Marcelo Pizarro is officially an Inter player after the club confirmed his transfer from Udinese.

The Inter website has this evening announced his arrival after he passed a medical earlier this week.

The Chilean international playmaker has signed a contract with the San Siro outfit until 30 June 2009.

It is still unclear at this stage how much Pizarro has cost the Nerazzurri, but Inter have sold their 50 per cent share in Goran Pandev – currently at Lazio – to the Bianconeri as part of the deal.

Pizarro has been demanding a move after submitting a transfer request and failing to show up for pre-season training in Udine.

Udinese could now make a bid for Lazio midfielder Fabio Liverani as Pizarro’s replacement. The Italian worked with new boss Serse Cosmi at Perugia.

Feyenoord have signed Nigerian striker John Owoeri after he impressed in a recent trial.

The 18-year-old came to the attention of Feyenoord coach Erwin Koeman during the Fifa Youth World Cup.

He arrived in Rotterdam recently and made an immediate impression, as he was offered a one-year deal.

Owoeri had little hesitation in agreeing terms and signed the deal, which has an option in place to extend, on Thursday.

The striker was been lured to Europe from Nigerian side Bendel Insurance.

Toni pens Fiorentina deal

Luca Toni has completed his move to Fiorentina after Palermo yesterday accepted a £7.2m bid for the striker.

The 28-year-old has put pen to paper on a Viola contract that will tie him to the outfit until June 2009.

Toni, a player who scored 20 League goals for the Sicilians last term, will net just over £1m-a-season.

"He was our principal transfer market objective," said delighted Fiorentina boss Cesare Prandelli.

"He’s scored 50 goals in two years and I hope that he can continue such a strike rate here with us.

"He leads the line and sees the goal like few players do. We instantly agreed that he could be of use to us.

"Talks were lengthy but I think the player’s desire was the important factor behind the move."

In other transfer news, Andre Ooijer has left PSV Eindhoven for Serie A new boys Genoa.  :em15:

The 31-year-old defender, capped 16 times by Holland, has moved after a 1m gbp fee was agreed.
