Belgian champions Club Brugge KV have signed Joos Valgaeren from Celtic FC on the day they agreed to sell central defender David Rozehnal to Paris Saint-Germain FC.

Success in Scotland
Valgaeren, 29, has put pen to paper on a three-year contract and arrives on a free transfer from Celtic. Previously with KV Mechelen and Roda JC, he spent five seasons in Glasgow, winning three Scottish Premier League titles and four Scottish Cups. The big defender, capped 19 times by Belgium, was also part of the Celtic team that reached the 2003 UEFA Cup final.

Rozehnal exit
As Valgaeren arrives, 24-year-old Czech international Rozehnal departs. Club Brugge today agreed an as yet undisclosed transfer fee with Paris Saint-Germain FC for the player, who is expected to sign a two-year contract. Rozehnal had been with Brugge since 2003, having joined from SK Sigma Olomouc.

The 2005/06 UEFA Champions League qualifiers Udinese Calcio have signed veteran defender Vincent Candela on a free transfer.

Free agent
The 31-year-old former French international was a free agent after his short-term contract with Bolton Wanderers FC expired earlier this month and he was not offered a new deal. Candela joined the Premiership side in January 2005 after nine seasons with AS Roma.

Highly motivated
"I am as motivated as when I joined Roma," Candela said after signing a one-year contract. "I'm in good condition and look forward to starting the new season." Udinese qualified for the Champions League for the first time after finishing fourth in Serie A.

Fiorentina have signed Christian Brocchi on loan from Milan.

Brocchi has struggled to hold down a regular place in the Milan side for the last two seasons.

The diminutive midfielder had grown increasingly frustrated with his lack of first team opportunities at Milan and had asked to move.

Brocchi has initially joined on a season-long loan with the option to make it permanent.

The 29-year-old admitted he was looking forward to joining Fiorentina.

"It is an honour for me to be a part of this squad," said Brocchi. "I'm coming to Florence to give my best.

"There are three reasons why I came here.This club is ambitious, they have great support and a super coach (Cesare Prandelli) who I know well."
