Conte takes Siena Coaching job
Former Juventus star Antonio Conte has moved into a Coaching career and will be Gigi De Canio assistant manager at Siena next season.

Conte retired from football last year and will turn 37 in July, having made his Serie A debut as a player for hometown club Lecce in 1985.

Siena avoided relegation on the last day of the season and will start building for the future with Conte learning the ropes from De Canio.

The Tuscans have also completed several transfers. Juve-owned goalkeeper Antonio Mirante, who spent this season at Crotone, has arrived on loan, while there are negotiations for Nicola Legrottaglie and Alessandro Birindelli.

Goalkeeper Alex Manninger has returned to Austria with Salzburg, ending a Serie A stint that also saw him play for Fiorentina.

Patrick Kluivert has completed his move to Valencia after passing a medical at the second time of asking.

The Dutchman agreed a deal with the Che last month, but the move was plunged into doubt when he failed a medical due to concerns over his knee.

Valencia sent the forward away in order to have his knee examined, setting a Monday deadline for the striker to prove his well-being.

Kluivert underwent a medical on Monday and came through the tests with flying colours, enabling him to complete his move to Valencia.

Valencia medical chief Dr Rafael Llombart oversaw the tests and was happy to rubber stamp the move.

Kluivert, who left Newcastle this summer after one frustrating campaign in The Premiership, has signed a three-year deal and could make his debut in the InterToto Cup.

Sochaux eye striker

Ligue 1 outfit Sochaux are believed to be interested in securing a loan deal for PSV Eindhoven starlet Johann Vonlanthen.

The Switzerland international has failed to hold down a regular starting berth at PSV, despite starring for his country at Euro 2004, and was farmed out on loan to Brescia last term.

Vonlanthen did not cut much ice in Serie A and PSV chief Guus Hiddink believes he will benefit from another season on loan.

Sochaux are believed to be monitoring the situation and could make a loan proposal for the talented teenage forward.

Lyon confirm Carew interest

Lyon have confirmed that Besiktas striker John Carew is one of their transfer targets.

New OL boss Gerard Houllier is looking to reinforce his attacking options, and giant Norwegian Carew is on their list.

The 25-year-old joined Turkish side Besiktas last summer after a year with Roma, and Houllier believes the experience of the former Valencia man could only help his side.

"It is true we are interested in John Carew," said a Lyon spokesman.

"It's an avenue we are exploring."

Houllier takes over a side that has won the French title four times on the bounce, meaning the heat will be on to deliver yet another championship.

Lyon have increased their standing around Europe but they will be looking to go beyond the quarter finals of the UEFA Champions League for the first time.

Carew starred in the Champions League when playing for Valencia, where he proved to be a real handful for Europe's best defences.

Lyon are also tracking Liverpool's Milan Baros and Feyenoord marksman Dirk Kuyt, but Carew could be the man should they agree a deal with Besiktas.

Dindane joins Lens from Anderlecht
PARIS, June 21 (Reuters) - Ivory Coast striker Aruna Dindane has joined Racing Lens from Anderlecht, the Ligue 1 club said on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old signed a four-year deal for an undisclosed transfer fee.

Zaragoza announced late on Wednesday that David Villa will be a Valencia player starting on July 1st.

Los Ches in-fact dished out to Zaragoza the 12 million Euros needed to match the buy-out clause stipulated in Villa’s contract.

Villa scored 17 goals during last season’s Liga campaign.

Soldevilla heads for Serie A

Defender Toni Soldevilla has confirmed he will be leaving Espanyol to continue his career in Italy this summer.

The 26-year-old has been at Espanyol for the past ten years having coming through the club's youth ranks, but has decided to seek pastures new for 'family and personal reasons'.

"It is a decision that I considered carefully and made some time ago," he stated.

It is widely expected that Parma will be his destination after they escaped relegation by beating Bologna in a play-off.

He was offered a new deal by Espanyol as well as newly-promoted Alaves, but has opted to test himself in Serie A.

Another player seemingly on his way out of Espanyol is winger Oscar Serrano.

The 23-year-old enjoyed an impressive start to last season having been signed on an initial 12-month contract from minnows Figueres and was thought to have inked a three-year extension last September.

However, he and his agent now claim that deal was not binding and insist he is free to leave the club this summer having fallen out of favour in the second half of the season.

Espanyol are keen to retain the left-sided forward, but he has targeted a move to Racing Santander and is expected to move on in the coming weeks.

PSV Eindhoven are interested in CSKA Moscow midfielder Osmar Ferreyra.

The Argentinian still has three years left on his lucrative contract with the Russian side, but has not settled well in Moscow.

The former River Plate man now wants to leave the Russian capital and Dutch champions PSV are interested.

Italian outfit Udinese have also turned their attentions to the 22-year-old, who will have to choose between Holland and Serie A.

Both sides are involved in the UEFA Champions League and Ferreyra will soon make a decision over his future.

Meanwhile, negotiations between PSV and Belgian side Club Brugge over Timmy Simons are reported to have hit a snag.

Roma close on Placente

Bayer Leverkusen wide man Diego Placente is close to agreeing a switch to Roma, according to widespread reports in Italy.

The out-of-contract Argentine is thought to head the capital outfit's summer wish-list and it is believed a three-year deal has been concurred upon.

Placente had been looking for around €1.5 million a season but it is believed a compromise of €900,000 has been agreed between the two parties.

The arrival of Placente at the Stadio Olympico could hasten the departure of Alessandro Mancini - who has been linked with a host of clubs this season.

Popular consensus has suggested the talented Brazilian will ply his trade elsewhere next season and the arrival of Placente would quell little this talk.

Arsenal were thought to be weighing up an €8 million offer but it is now expected Mancini will remain in Italy next season - with Juventus and Internazionale leading the chase for his signature.
