Everton are poised to offload James Beattie to Sheffield United in a move that should pave the way for Alan Smith to sign. 係就快啦小
The Smith transfer has been a slow-burner this summer, with Manchester United having confirmed they have not received any firm offers for the squad man. David Moyes himself has chosen not to confirm his interest in Smith, and has indeed hinted he is to look elsewhere.
However with Sheffield United having registered a firm interest in signing James Beattie from Goodison, Moyes is hopeful that move would clear they way for Smith to move, with assurances of first-team football.
Speaking of the move for Beattie, the Sheffield United manager Bryan Robson confirmed:
"If I can persuade the lad to take the drop, hopefully just for one season, I think James Beattie would be a really good signing for us.
"I've got a couple of things in the pipeline which are very close.
"Hopefully over the next 48 hours we can move further forward and make a couple of players Sheffield United players."
Moyes himself has hinted at frustration over his inability to add to his two signings so far, but hopes Smith will soon follow Phil Jagielka and Steven Pienaar to the club.
"Last year we had three in early but hopefully these two have settled in and will make a good start but I have to say we are hoping to bring in another couple of new faces," he said
"The disappointing thing is that I always like the boys to be in early for pre-season because I think it is important, especially the way we try to have this club and the spirit we have amongst the players. But the two that are here already have fitted in very well."
